Adults at Salem

Education Bible Study and discussion classes are offered during the Sunday School hour at 9:15 am every Sunday and at other times during the week. Classes examine faith issues especially as they pertain to the challenges of everyday life.

Music Opportunities to become involved in music include the Chancel Choir, Bell Choir and Praise Band. In addition, individual concerts and performances usually include Salem members. Recent concerts have included piano recitals, brass ensembles and opera performances.

Small Groups: Growth in the spiritual realm takes place in small study/discussion groups, most of which meet in members’ homes. These groups meet monthly, usually following a current-themed video series or study book.  Sunday School, Tuesday morning Bible study, and Disciple Bible study are additional ways we help you learn more about following in Christ’s footsteps.

Mission Trips: Recent home repair and disaster relief missions have taken Salem members to New Orleans and to Harrisburg, Illinois, site of a devastating tornado in 2012. We have also served Habitat for Humanity in Port Huron, Michigan.  Another mission activity involves Salem members helping to provide and serve an annual Christmas luncheon for recently released prison inmates and their families.

All members are encouraged to become involved in hands-on work as an element of fulfilling our commitment to Christ.  We’d love to hear your ideas on how you would like to help.

The United Methodist Women is a group that meets regularly with an emphasis on service and mission. Current activities of the UMW are the sale of fair trade coffee, tea and chocolate, and a monthly book discussion club.

The Women’s Activity Group is organized for fun, often involving an activity such as sight-seeing, shopping, crafts and restaurant dining. The group’s schedule occasionally allows for men to participate in bowling and other outings.
